"Seek ye first the Kingdom of God"

Now this is a classic old song, my family and I used to sing while sat in the back of our Peugeot 504 (a massive ugly car, it had multicoloured panels and brown interior)especially on long car journeys, so this song always makes me smile - it brings back the joy of being a child and singing your heart out as you drive down the motorway. In fact I sang it with a friend on the way back from a retreat we had been working on...

But there is a deeper meaning I am sure. Seek the kingdom of God, something that sounds almost like a fairy tale to most. A far of place full of beauty and grand halls and perhaps our departed loved ones.
Like a child, I spend most my time thinking the kingdom of God is miles away, on clouds at times, but the reality is that the kingdon of God is much nearer. In actual fact the kingdom of God can be found in the hearts of your "neighbour", obviously there is more to the kingdom than can be found in someones heart - but its a good place to start. God has placed bits of his kingdom in each and everyone of us - and although its easy to see in some people we need to challenge ourselves and look deeper into the people we meet.

As its Lent, its a time to grow closer to Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Be bold and full of the spirit and look for the kingdom of God in the places you wouldn't normally.
